This morning AFTER the rain finally stopped I got the 2m loop and the 6m dipole up at their proper heights in anticipation of the CQ WW VHF Contest that starts at 1400 Local today.
Using my FT 847 as the radio, with the power setting at 100w for 6m and 50w for 2m contacts were made with no problems.
With no opening on 2m my furthest contact was in Hammond Ontario

which as you can see by the map is east of Ottawa.
I also was able to contact the same station on 6m but my furthest local contact on 6 was in Almonte Ontario which is west of Ottawa.

But there were also an opening on 6 and so I was able also to make 2 DX Contacts as well.
Ralph W9CAR in Madison Wisconsin and Wayne VE1WLC from Lockport Nova Scotia were both added to the log in short order.

I have to head out to Cornwall Ontario to check on my trailer in the early afternoon but should be home by 1600 local calling “CQ Contest”…If this keeps up it will be a great contest… Hope I get a chance to work you…
