It started back a the end of October with an email to Bill Unger VE3XT who is my RAC Director for North and Eastern Ontario. I was giving him my opinions (everyone knows I have opinions and am very willing to share them) on the need for RAC to become more active on the social media side of things…
Bill’s timely reply took me by suprise… He agreed with me but… I got the spiel on who would take over such a task…
Its very hard to argue with someone about what needs to be done when they agree with you and then say… “What about you… Could you help out???”
…That will teach me…
.
I thought about it for a bit and then figured it was time either to “Put up or shut up” and I offered my services to help out with Facebook, Twitter and eventually the RAC Blog…
In the last month there has been a lot of emails and phone calls between various people at RAC and with today’s conversation with Geoff VE4BAW it looks like I am now helping RAC in their quest to better inform the Amateur Radio Operators of Canada…
No title… but I guess I could be called “The RAC Social Media Guy”…
For the most part my regular visitors will not find any difference what so ever. The issues that currently affect RAC have not been popular with you so I tend not to spend much time on them… That now will become even less time on them. I don’t think its fair for me to making comments when I am trying to help them out… That’s like insider trading and no good ever becomes of that…
I will continue to comment on Canadian Amateur issues in general and I will always say good things about our hobby no matter what the source is.
I will give RAC Issues and RAC Management a wide berth for the time I am helping them out. (No more Youtube digs…) Once things are up and running smoothly I would have no qualms of handing things over to someone else but I will stay as long as they want me to… or I want to…
On the positive side it shows that RAC is listening to their members as the social media thing was point of concern to many amateurs… On the scary side… They accepted my offer of assistance
Stay tuned to see how this turns out…
