If it was any more fun it would be illegal…
Its 0315utc or 1115edst and I am getting tired… No hi scores here but its time to call it a night…. Heres what we ended up with for stats and it will take me a while to figure out the score for the submission so from the log I can tell you that…
48 total contacts
26 individual DXCC entities
31 SSB contacts on 15m
10 SSB contacts on 20m
5 SSB contacts on 40m
1 SSB contact on 10m
1 SSB contact on 80m
contacts were made on 4 continents
1 got one new DXCC (E51 South Cook Islands)
At a distance of over 14,000 kms the South Cook Island was my furthest contact
I had fun!!!
All this was achieved by the tried and true Search and Pounce Method… If I ever figure out how to run a pile up then maybe I will actually be bragging about a score rather than telling you all the good things I was able to do… In addition to all the good stuff I mentioned above …
This was the first time in any contest (that I can remember) that I managed contacts on 10m to 80m. However if I had been doing some serious contesting I probally just would of stayed on 15m and 20m as they were the two best for me from Ottawa. But by jumping around and being choosy (looking for new countries and distant contacts) I cost myself serious time. It took close to 20 minutes of call E51 before I got her in the log.
The bands did drop out a few times but they always came back…
Like I said I had fun and I made contacts… A heck of a way to spend a scorcher of a day in Ottawa… If the temps stay high tomorrow then I think I’ll start reading up on LOTW… I guess its about time I set up my account

Glad to see you had a good time in the IARU contest. I’m a contest newbie and from my 1st contact from VY2TT superstation here in PEI I had to quickly learn how to deal with a pileup. It sure gets exciting. 73/72 Jim va3kv/vy2 (vy2rac during the contest)

Good evening Bob, very nice stats for the contest and with the up’s and downs with propagation it was over all a great contest. Your hard work paid off with landing South Cook Island. I was contesting CW in this one and at QRPp levels making some contacts with as little as 50mW’s. Most contacts were in around 100mW’s or less. Like yourself it was all search and pounce for me and I have not yet gathered the nerve to start a run with CW in a contest. I just don’t understand how these op’s can get the call first time around, type it down, give a report, log it while taking the next incoming call…..just boggles me.
Have a good week Bob.
