I caught this little bit of info off the 3730/VE3ORF Group Page under the News Heading… Posted below but the 3730 website has the links as well. Check section 8 under communications.

Note that while this event is over already, we must be vigilant in teh protection of “our” frequencies, lest we lose them!
Help save our spectrum – Resist the illegal use of ham radio by unlicensed paragliders and hanggliders. Have a read of these rules for the HPAC.ca sanctioned event where they state that all pilots must have a radio capable of transmitting and receiving in the ham band (146.415), although the majority of para/hang glider pilots are NOT ham radio operators! (rule 8.1)

More importantly, if you are a para/hang glider pilot who is a licensed ham, educate others on obtaining their license so they can legally use the spectrum.
Just a search for paraglide and 146.415 on Google returns some awakening results.

Looks like it happened again… IC letting intruders into the 2m amateur band. I try and keep on top of most amateur news and this is the first I heard of it and I heard of it after the fact…
No news from any source I can find other than the 3730 group and I thank them for bringing to our attention. Yes there is mention of this on a Facebook Page I am told but I’m not on Facebook…
BTW if you do the Google Search suggested (Paraglide and 146.415 you will be shocked)…

Bob, I would suggest an email blitz to IC asking what they are doing about this. An email to RAC wouldn’t hurt either.
