INTRUDER ALERT (They know they are not following the rules)

The following link was sent to me this am by VA3GFD (Thanks Don)…

It seems that the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada advises their members not to use Amateur Radio unless they are licensed… (See Below)

Spectrum  Management

“I can’t emphasize strongly enough except to say….. AMATEUR (HAM)  RADIO EQUIPMENT CAN ONLY BE USED BY CERTIFIED AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS.        As we discussed, the process of becoming certified is quite arduous  and time consuming. There are no regulations regarding altitude restrictions   although the Amateur fraternity may have self imposed limits to help  prevent interference.”

“We are highly dubious that all your members  are meetingthe licensing requirements of Ham radio.”

So there you have it…..  The group knows better and now choses to ignore the laws.  I’m hoping that IC takes this into concideration when they are figuring out the penalties for these operators who chose to ignore…  Its my opinion that if they take shortcuts with one side of their hobby they most likely take other shortcuts in their hobby so I now wonder about the safety of their hobby.  Not blaming the organisation but more the individual operators….

More into on this as I hear it…
