A rainy (really wet) day in Ottawa

As you must of figured out from yesterdays posts…  My plans to head up to the Gatineau Hills and operate from the Champlain Lookout in the ARRL VHF Contest were rained out…  Swamped out might be a better description but… to use the old baseball term “game called on account of rain”…

Outside of visiting VE3DLJ at the Ottawa Heart Institute I spent most of yesterday in the shack listening on 6m and making lots of contacts in the European DX Contest….

Heres a by band breakdown:

10m – 1 contact in South America

6m- 2 contacts in FN25 (groundwave)

40m -3 contacts in Europe

15m- 20 contacts in Europe

Sadly there were no new ones in Europe…  Much to my suprise…  so the DXCC (unconfirmed) Count is still sitting at 139.  In about 2 weeks from now when my stuff comes in from LoTW and I can start uploading my logs I hope that the unconfirmed count goes down and the confirmed count finally goes up.

SOON!

Seeing that the OARC Hamfest (2011) last year was the place where I bought the S9 43′ vertical I am getting very close to my one year anniversary of keeping score of DXCC…  Next week when I am at the Ottawa Valley QRP Society Chilicon event it will also my 1 year anniversary of keeping score…  Must remember to mention that when we are sitting around the campfire telling lies about contacts…

.

Not my Backyard but it does show the size of the antenna

Anyway the weather in Ottawa is cooler but dryer today…  Not much on the go today…  There was talks about heading out to the Champlain Lookout today instead but I think I am grounded due to some things Liz would like to do early this afternoon…  It was mentioned to me last evening and so far she has not indicated that she has changed her mind…

Enjoy whats left of your weekend…
