Still making contacts, so still blogging!

March 8, 2009

Things are starting to slow down…  20m is not as strong as it was earlier in the day but I did manage to make a couple more contacts…  Once again I will mention that this is not a “Brag Post” which holds true for the rest of the “Contest Blogging Posts” but more along the line of  ” if I can do it with my poor antenna system then you should be able to…”.

If we don’t get on the air to give the big guns contacts then who are they going to talk to…  Also its about the only way us “POP GUNS” ever stand a chance of rare DX or getting closer to DXCC…

Here are a few more 20 m contacts:

Now remember that most of these stations are serious contest stations and that I believe that they were doing most of the work on these contacts.  However I had to get a signal into the airwaves that they could hear and so my FT847 running just under 100w and the longwire in the Maple Tree had to be working so the “Big Guns could hear the Pop Gun”.

More on contest blogging later during the contest.

In my opinion this give us who do not really want to contest at such a high pace a chance to participate.  I do contest but not the really big ones…  I do enjoy however giving the big guns a few contacts so here is my fun way of contesting…

Contest Blogging….  The latest internet craze???  or just a way to waste an afternoon???  Either way its fun.

Contest Blogging… A new sport???

March 7, 2009

Now you might ask what the HECK is Contest Blogging???

Here’s how I define it…  As you know this weekend is a Contest Weekend with the ARRL DX Contest so most of my normal weekend Amateur Activities have been blown out of the water…

I did hear a strong signal on 20m and ran the call through the QRZ Database and found out that that it was a club station and they had a really nice picture of their QSL card on line so…

gm7r

This started me off on Contest Blogging…  I hear the station….  I check out the call on QRZ.com and if they show a cool picture or a QSL card I try and make the contact and then download the pic and post it here.

If you see their QSL here then I made the contact…  No Pic/QSL then no contact…

Its easier than logging…

The above contacts were made on 20m

More on this new sport later
