In yesterdays emailings came several references to the fact that Steve WG0AT who is one third of the famous Goathiker team along with Rooster and Peanut were going to give up the production of the fantastic videos that Steve was producing.
If you check with Youtube and search for “Goathiker” you will see 80 videos about Steve and the boys having fun playing QRP Radio in the great outdoors. The above video is just one of the many…From Contesting to SOTA, to a two day hike just to operate for a day and then have to hike back, Steve and his faithful goats have been documenting their amateur radio exploits for all to see…
Steve has made reference to the fact that for him to make that wonderful 15 minute video of his exploits takes over 30 hours of editing. Taking into concideration have to do the hike itself and video yourself while doing the hike… I would guess that the production time (the time spent hiking there with videos recording compared to the time of just hiking there) would add at least 10 hours to any trip… And we don’t see that time…
Everyone who does something in Amateur Radio has to question their sanity when it seems you spend more time on your Hobby than enjoying your hobby…

Thanks for everything… Keep on going out and playing radio… I hope that one day I might even get you in the log when you are out on a SOTA DXPedition or a 14′er event. I will look for you on aprs.fi and when I see you out there I will try for the contact on whatever band your VX8 says you are on…
You have inspired me… and for that I thank you….
