Back on April 24th I let Vince post an article as a guest blogger. He was commenting on Bill C118.
Yesterday I recieved an email asking me to post another article on the same topic as an update.
Here is his article intact and unedited…
CLUB EXECUTIVES — PLEASE REVIEW THIS REQUEST asap and distribute via your
club distribution list to your entire membership.
RAC is asking for our help with Bill 118 which could remove our Granted
Radio operating priviledges as Federally Licensed Radio Amateurs. THIS
AFFECTS US ALL.
Please refer to
and the attached handbill that I will be distributing at the fleamarket in
As the RAC blog requests, in your submitted comments we need the Ontario
Ministry of Transportation to know the kinds of service we provide to them
as Radio Amateurs and that we never were part of the problem they are trying
to solve, and for those reasons should be granted exception to this new
law – Bill 118 – that will come into effect this autumn. Remind them that
many provinces have already passed similar “put down your phones and drive”
type legislation and have exemptions for Amateur Radio, namely Newfoundland,
Nova Scotia and internationally, New Jersey, California, Washington, South
Africa, Alaska, District of Columbia, Louisiana and Minnesota.
DISTRIBUTE THIS REQUEST FAR AND WIDE to ensure that we do not lose our
rights. I am not plugged into as many clubs as I’d like to be so please
forward this to any and all clubs outside of the Oakville/Hamilton/Niagara
Thank you, 73 es gud dx de VE6LK /3
